A Hanworth trader has been fined £1835 by Feltham Magistrates Court. Mr Suruakant Patel the owner of T.Chapman newsagents in Park Road Hanworth pleaded guilty to 5 charges of carrying on unauthorised licensable activity relating to the sale of alcohol from the premises during July 2008. A number of other charges were not proceeded with by the Court.

The case follows a lengthy proactive operation by officers from Hanworth Park Safer Neighbourhood Team (Hounslow police) responding to local residents concerns regarding the sale of alcohol in the area and concerns over the link with alcohol to anti-social behaviour primarily amongst young people.

Sergeant Darren Weston of Hanworth Park Safer Neighbourhood team said, "the link between alcohol and anti-social behaviour is very well publicised. We (the police) will respond to residents concerns as this case clearly shows, and we will do all we can to take enforcement action. I hope that this case sends a very clear message to traders to abide by the law and to meet their responsibilities to the local community."
