Lessons in safety
Hanworth Park Safer Neighbourhood Team (Feltham police) began the first in a series of school visits in the Feltham area today to promote Halloween and firework safety.
Each year police receive numerous complaints from residents about anti-social behaviour during this period that have included the throwing of eggs and flour at homes and the inappropriate use of fireworks.
PC Clive Atkinson launched the initiative by visiting Longford Secondary School in Tatchbrook Road, Feltham delivering a series of safety messages to children during school assemblies.
PC Atkinson said "we are aiming to raise awareness because although Halloween and fireworks may seem like fun to youngsters, their behaviour can cause alarm and distress to others.
We are asking people to respect each other and act considerately".
"We would encourage parents to take their children to properly organised fireworks displays and talk to their children about the very real danger that fireworks pose."
