Going green together, what faiths are doing about the environment

Posted by Hounslow Friends of Faith on Sep 24, 08 05:04 PM in Faith

Awareness of climate change and the need to protect the environment is growing and is not restricted to any one section of the community.

On Saturday, October 4, Hounslow Friends of Faith is bringing together speakers and displays from different faiths to challenge and inspire people to do their bit for the environment.

Jagdeesh Singh from Sikh Environment Network, Muzamah Hussein of LINE, the London Islamic Network for the Environment and Rev John Hereward, A Rocha Christian Conservation Group will speak on how their faith inspires them to work for change. There will be an "eco fashion show" of clothes made from discarded materials put together by young people. Former Mayor of London Ken Livingstone will attend to close the event.

Everyone is welcome to come along to the Paul Robeson Theatre, Treaty Centre, Hounslow TW3 1ES, starting at 1.30pm and ending with refreshments at 4.30pm. There will be stalls reflecting many faiths' concerns for the earth plus Traidcraft, Friends of the Earth, the Hounslow Recycling Team and others. Admission is free, but places are limited so first come, first served.

Hounslow Friends of Faith (HFOF) is a network of people from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds whose aim is to promote understanding and harmony among people in Hounslow. See www.hounslowfriendsoffaith.org
