Rain fails to halt play in Hanworth

Posted by Nina Rossi on Aug 12, 08 02:57 PM in Clubs/societies

hanworth-picnic.jpgStormy weather kept the crowds down at a pair of community picnics last Friday but the hardy kids who braved the weather had a great time despite the showers.

The gatherings at Bear Road Recreation Ground and Butts Farm Green were organised by the Extended Schools Service to get Hanworth families together during the summer holidays.

Coordinator Maeve Begley said: "The weather was absolutely terrible but that's the risk you take with the British summer. It was great fun though and all the kids seemed to be having a good time."

The picnics, which offered football, face painting and plenty of opportunity to chat, will return to Butts Farm at the same time this Friday (August 15) with the morning session moving to St Dunstan's Church Green, in Feltham.

If the weather is really bad they may be cancelled so call Maeve on 07932 513 869 if you're planning to attend.

For more fun snaps of last week's events pick up a copy of the Feltham, Bedfont & Hanworth Chronicle this Thursday.

We'd like to hear from you.
