Hundreds mourn Hanworth barman

Posted by Nina Rossi on Jul 18, 08 04:23 PM in People

Funeral-01-FL.jpgOver 200 sobbing mourners packed into the chapel at Hanworth Crematorium yesterday to remember popular barman Michael Joseph who died after falling from a Heathrow bridge.

The funeral was an opportunity for friends and family to share their grief and shock over the sudden passing of the 21-year-old, who was fatally injured by the 50ft drop on June 28.

The father-of-one, who lived on the Butts Farm estate but originally hailed from Bedfont, was remembered fondly as a son, brother, friend and as father to his three-year-old son Ashley.

But there were also lighthearted moments to the sombre occasion as the vicar prompted subdued laughter by reminding mourners of Michael's cheeky sense of humour, back flips and constant attachment to his mobile phone.

After the ceremony close friend Clare Orphan said: "I know it meant a lot to his family to see how many people cared about him. Mike was a truly special person."

We'd like to hear from you.

Michael was my best friend for 12 years, and as Clare rightly said, it meant a lot for the family to see just how loved Mick really was. Calre travelled from wales and i travelled from Yorkshire to pay our respects. we all loved Michael so much and he will be sadly missed but greatly remember. may he rest in peace x x
